6 inspiring charity ideas for your office
Giving back to the community is not just one of our core values as a company, it is also an essential thing for many of our employees as individuals. This is why most of the charity actions we start actively involve our employees and are more than simple donations. This way, everybody wins: our employees have an easy opportunity to do good and we get the chance to do some really cool charity activities.
At KeepCalling, we have a Charity Committee that organizes all our charity activities. It is made up of employees from all departments and new members are elected every year. Here is a list of 6 of our favorite charities that may inspire you to start new charitable traditions in your office.
1. Hosting a handmade fair
We do this a couple of times a year (Christmas and beginning of spring), when we receive handmade decorations created by the members of a local NGO. Our employees buy the decorations they like and the money raised goes back to the NGO that provided them.
2. Building houses together
With Habitat for Humanity or any similar organization. We just love September, when we gather a new team every year that gets to take part in this activity that becomes a sort of charitable team building. The company donates an amount of money and our employees donate their time and energy for a good cause.
We get tons of positive testimonials every year, such as this one:
3. Having an in-house auction
This is one of our favorite charities. Our colleagues bring items they want to put up for sale and the others bid for them. We get a fun auction show every time we do this! Laughs are guaranteed and you also go home with unexpected things each and every time.
Surprisingly, some of the most sought after items are not even objects. Some of our colleagues donate their time and knowledge in the form of workshops organized for the others KeepCallers.
4. Running for charity
The town where we have our headquarters (Sibiu, Romania) hosts an annual marathon and many KeepCallers participate every year. They pick a local cause they want to run for and the company pays for their participation fee. Each runner can also be a fundraiser and raise money for the cause of their choice.
5. Letters from Santa/the Easter Bunny
We also enjoy this tradition a lot. Our Charity Committee gets in touch with a school/kindergarten/kids shelter and the kids there write letters to Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. We then get these letters and give our best to give the kids what they dream of. Offering them the gifts in person is always an emotional moment for everyone involved.
6. Volunteering for the environment
We care about the environment and to prove it we get involved in various projects that show respect to the Earth. Every year we plant trees, collect trash and clean different local areas.
