How to celebrate April Fools’ Day at the office
April Fools’ Day is not only the funniest day of the year but also THE day when you can (and actually have to) let your humor go wild. Well, not wild in every setting. Crazy pranks are probably not highly appreciated at your workplace, but that doesn’t mean you have to refrain from all types of pranks. There are safe ones out there that bring smiles to people’s faces and remind them what April 1st stands for.
If you’re looking for such office-friendly jokes and pranks, we’re here to help with 5 ideas that will inspire you:
1. Are you hearing voices?
Find a video playing spooky ghost-like sounds and play it on your phone. Hide your phone in one of your colleagues’ desk drawers. When he/she will puzzledly ask “Can you hear anything?” just pretend like you don’t know what they’re talking about. When your colleague insists, ask “Are you ok? Are you hearing voices?” 🤣
2. Ghost typing
Since we’re talking about ghosts, here’s another idea that will drive your coworkers pretty mad. Replace their keyboard with yours when they’re not looking, if your desk is close to theirs.
Then, when they begin to type, start typing as well. Of course, your words will appear on their screen and not theirs. Fun will be had by all until they find out who has their keyboard. 😬
3. The biggest prank of them all
Choose a victim. The more anxious, the better. Then leave them a note early in the morning, warning them that a huge prank is in store for them that day. As the day goes by, leave several other notes announcing the big prank. They’ll surely be on their guard the entire day.
Then, at the end of the day, leave the final note, letting them know this was in fact the prank. Will they be relieved? Disappointed? There’s only one way to find out. 😉
4. Who is this?
You can pull this prank on the chat platform you’re using at work. When someone tries to talk to you on April 1st, pretend like you don’t know who they are. Something along the lines of…
A: Hey, whatcha doin?
You: I’m fine. Who is this?
A: Huh? It’s me, Mike.
You: Mike who?
A: Mike Leary, what are you talking about?
You: Sorry, I don’t think I know any Mike Leary.
A: Ha ha stop messing with me. You know we have that deadline…
You: What deadline? I don’t work with you. 😛
5. There’s something under the fridge!
You can pull this hoax for the entire office! Hide a toy mouse under the fridge and take a photo of its tail. Then post in the office chat room: “There’s something under the fridge…”. People will ask “What is it?”. Try to confuse them: “I don’t know… but it looks gross.”
People will try to get more details. Just post the photo and wait for their reactions. Then don’t forget to tell them it was only a joke. Many of them may not get near the kitchen again. 😆
