KeepCalling supports Romanian Expats in Atlanta
In September 2013, KeepCalling joined efforts with the Romanian orthodox community in Atlanta, Georgia, to protect St.Constantine and Helen church from being repossessed by its lander. KeepCalling’s donation of $500 adds up to the the efforts of the church to raise the necessary money and return the loan.
The $500 donation was part of a fundraising event that took place on September 21st for the second year in a row. The donation revolved around a tennis tournament and its impact influences the Romanian community in Atlanta, but also members from other neighbouring ethnic groups, since St.Constantine and Helen church gathers around 99% Romanians and 1% other Eastern Europeans.
The orthodox community around St. Constantine and Helen church in Atlanta is an important one. It comprises hundreds of members at present, and is thus the center that brings together not only the Romanian community living in Atlanta, but also Moldavians and Serbians, who would otherwise not interact. The establishment is pretty active, organizing and hosting social and cultural events on regular basis.
The $500 donation from KeepCalling lines up with its social program of supporting the local community through charitable actions. The telecommunication company, set up in Atlanta in 2002, chose to support the Romanian community in this area and reduce the risk the orthodox church is exposed to, including the dissipation of the regular meetings of the Romanian community.
