“Bike to Work” Charity Program
Bike/Walk to Work 2014
KeepCalling’s charity project Bike/Walk to Work reached its third year. How did this program evolve from a pilot project to a tradition. Here’s the answer: because there are three sides, all of them good, to this story!
1. It reduces strain on the environment.
2. Free gym on wheels: the project contributed to the physical health and well-being of all 34 of you that participated in this program.
3. Last, but not least, going back to school will not be a burden for children with poor financial situation thanks to the donations offered by our Bike/Walk to Work program.
This year, KeepCalling collected $2025 by offering $3/km for people who walked to work and $1.5/km for people who biked on their way to the office.
During these 2 weeks, KeepCallers walked 423.3 km and biked 503.87 km.
Money collected will be used to buy school supplies and backpacks for children with a difficult financial situation from School no.25 from Sibiu and Seica Mica School.
Bike/Walk to Work 2013
KeepCalling’s Bike to Work initiative returned for a second year with a new name and new rules! Bike or Walk to Work is the new name of the 2013 edition which proved to be very appreciated both by its volunteers and by its beneficiaries. The new rules imply KeepCalling employees were encouraged not only to ride their bikes to work, but also to walk and leave their cars behind.
The employees who came to work or went home by bike received $1/km, while those who walked received double. All the employees who decided not to use their cars or public transportation managed to raise $1600 in just 6 weeks, between August 5th and September 13th.
The money raised by the employees was donated by KeepCalling and most of it was used to buy school supplies for 41 elementary school students struggling with economic difficulty. The children study at two elementary schools in Sibiu, Romania. The supplies were offered to them on the first day of the new school year and both the students and their families were happy to receive this act of kindness.
$650 of the amount raised was used to buy supplies for 20 kindergarten children in Cornatel, a village next to Sibiu, Romania. The kindergarten in Cornatel was chosen for this donation because the majority of the children attending classes here are facing financial difficulties. The school supplies donated – markers, pencils, scissors, schoolbags, plasticine, etc – were offered to the children on one of the first days of the new school year.
Bike to Work 2012
Between August 22nd – September 14th 2012, KeepCalling employees embarked on a challenging social responsibility project: “Bike to Work” and help a child go to school better equipped!
During this period, the company donated $3/employee per each day an employee rode his bike to work. After 18 exhausting days, $200 were raised. The amount was used to buy school supplies for 10 children with economic difficulties from School No. 21 in Sibiu, Romania.
Besides the “Bike to Work” program, KeepCalling was also involved in three other Social Responsibility projects that advocate education and excellence.
