7 things that can get you excited at work
When we think about work, we don’t usually associate it with fun, but the surest way to do a good job and live a happy life is to find that kind of work that you enjoy doing and it won’t even feel like work anymore.
You can also look for the exciting things in your daily work, focus on them and try to enhance them, for a greater feeling of both professional and personal satisfaction. Because enthusiasm can help you move mountains and also give you an endorphin boost.
To highlight the things that can get you excited at work, we’ve put together the list below and then also asked our fellow KeepCallers for their personal input.
1. Making a difference
It is said that helping people makes you feel even better than the way you make them feel. It is an addictive feeling and such a pleasant reward for your work. Doing good for a living is a strong motivator in your everyday activity.
So if you make a difference in people’s lives in any way, whether you work in Customer Service, medical care, the legal sector, hospitality, an NGO, you name it, you have every reason to be excited with your job because it is meaningful to the people you serve.
2. Improving your skills
Gaining knowledge, experience, and just watching yourself grow professionally is amazing! Just take a look at where you are now and think back to the days when you started your current job. This will make you appreciate how much you’ve learned along the way and in how many aspects you’ve managed to improve.
3. Receiving recognition
Being praised for your work shows your work and your abilities are appreciated. Receiving recognition gives us an immense feeling of accomplishment and ensures us that we are in the right place, doing the right thing.
4. Contribution to the growth of the business
Seeing your work contribute to the growth of the company you work for is also rewarding and motivating. The fact that you personally add more bricks to the building of a bigger and stronger business shows that you’re an essential employee.
5. Finding new solutions
Finding yourself in front of an obstacle and looking for ways to overcome it can really give you an adrenaline rush. Think about all the roadblocks you’ve overcome at your current job. Those are achievements worth celebrating!
And so are all the new changes you bring at the workplace: optimizing processes, improving procedures, finding new ways to do things, in a word “innovating”.
6. Your colleagues
Your work environment and the people around you can certainly increase the level of enthusiasm you have about your job. If you and your colleagues are like friends, each day can be an exciting day. You can enjoy work projects and meetings together just like you do coffee breaks, lunches, and chats.
7. The sense of belonging
People always develop a sense of belonging to a group they are a part of, whether it’s their high school friends, the neighbors on their street, and even the nation they belong to. If you share the values of the company you work for, the environment is pleasant, and you’re having a good time with your colleagues, you’re probably rooting for your team and putting in your best efforts, because you feel like you belong there.
