2021 charity activities and donations at KeepCalling
2021 was yet another challenging year for all of us, another year of fighting against the coronavirus that changed our lives so much. However, we’d learned a few precious lessons from 2020, so we were better prepared in our fight.
We tried not to let the pandemic affect us too much. We got back to the office, enjoyed online and offline events together, and continued our quest to help the ones around us, as much as possible.
2021 was very rich in donations. May we dare to say the richest yet? We haven’t really done the math, but it sure seems that way at a first glance. So, without further ado, here are the most prominent charity activities we got involved in last year:
Laptop donations
This is an area we started to focus on much more since the beginning of the pandemic, because communication and even remote education became more important than ever in 2020. We donated laptops to a nursing home, the Red Cross in Sibiu, a rural school library, an orphanage, the Finnish School in Sibiu, and two other local associations.
Book donations
We love reading, ergo we love donating books. KeepCallers bought books in order to equip a rural school library from scratch and also to reward an amazing 4th grade student who is very passionate about books and had set a goal for himself to read 100 books by the end of the school year. He accomplished his goal ahead of time, which meant even more books for him, from us!
Donations supporting education
Education is probably our favorite charity area, so last year we explored new ways of helping schools and local NGOs. We bought gym accessories, clothes, shoes, educational games, coloring books, and puzzles. We also incited 300 children living in rural areas to enjoy a pizza in the Village Museum. They also took part in workshops and played games designed especially for them.
Donations from our office in Bolivia
Our Charity Committee is also present in Bolivia and actually all our colleagues there have charity in their veins. They are extremely generous and involved, they understand the needs of others and want to help out. So it’s not surprising that they also organized a lot of activities last year.
They donated medicines to a nursing home, medicines and electronic devices to a women’s shelter, powdered milk to an orphanage, and money to two animal shelters in Cochabamba.
Donations that have become a tradition
Over time, we’ve fallen in love with a few causes that we unfailingly support year after year. Some of them are:
- The International Theater Festival in Sibiu
- The Sibiu Street Art Festival
- Kiva
- The Sibiu Cycling Tour
- The Sibiu Marathon
- Niños con Valor
- SOS Children’s Villages
We also enjoyed hosting a few traditional in-house charity events, such as our yearly auction and Christmas, Easter, and Martisor sales.
